Deer Girls
In a war-torn Middle East, Batya and her twin brother, Gad, defy violence to celebrate their seventeenth birthdays. Their Kurdish-Jewish heritage inspires them to make a powerful statement for peace at Jerusalem’s Western Wall. However, the protest turns tragic when Gad is shot, and Batya awakens in a Black Surge holding facility. There, she befriends Dilkesh, an Iraqi Kurdish fighter. Together, they endure the horrors of captivity, fighting for survival and dignity.
As Batya learns about Dilkesh’s past and the challenges faced by women in the region, they plot their escape. Unexpectedly, Gad himself orchestrates their rescue. Now, the twins must navigate through a devastated city, guided by Gad’s Palestinian friend, Mustafa.
This gripping novel explores loyalty, sacrifice, and family ties amidst the complexities of identity and conflict, celebrating courage and the indomitable spirit of those who refuse to be silenced.
