Chaos of War: A Story of Love and Heartache
Product Description Fate interceded the day Kelly Moreau met Navy Lieutenant Matt Grant. Their life began with all the love and passion most people only dream about, but their dreams had to be put on hold because Lieutenant Grant was about to receive new orders, sending him to Vietnam. The conflict taking place in Southeast Asia would disrupt their lives beyond what they could have imagined. Every day for months Matt would experience all the chaos and savageness of war. There were times he would question his own beliefs and values, and at the same time, he was brought face-to-face with his own mortality. Although the horror taking place was thousands of miles away, it still managed to reach back to Kelly, striking at heart and mind. Would Matt survive? Would their lives change again? And if they did change, would they be able to endure those changes? Both of them were aware of the number of families who were torn apart when men came home from war. They were very much aware. From the Author It began during the Gulf War, the sudden need to write, to put on paper the feelings I experienced during my husband's deployment to Vietnam. Times back then were very difficult to comprehend and writing about them years later still wasn't an easy task. I'm not embarrassed to say that there were many times as I sat at the computer when tears fell, for a myriad of reasons. Back then we didn't have email, or cell phones, and had to depend on regular U.S. mail, which made the separation even more difficult. Many of our husbands had to depend on ham radio operators to put the "far and few between" calls through to us, and those lasted less than three minutes. Adding to the worry was having to deal with a growing resentment in America. As much as it affected our men, it also affected us, the wives. This book wasn't written to provide encouragement, or advise on how to go about daily routines in life without worrying or missing a loved one. Some things can never be taught. It was only meant to express what it can be like during a time of war. And at the time this story was written, wives, sweethearts, families of the service members who were being sent to the Gulf were about to face those same emotions. As the main character in the story, Kelly Moreau, said about her reason for writing: "It was a way to try and make people understand what it was like for those who went to war and for those who stayed behind, waiting and worrying." From the Inside Flap Chaos of War About the Author In the civilian community she worked as a paralegal, administrative assistant, a computer software/hardware technician, and network systems administrator. In 1998 she accepted an early retirement package from a major telecommunications corporation.
