Angels at Advent, an Advent calendar
Angels, those spiritual citizens of Heaven, appear in stories throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. We read of them serving in various roles: as God's messengers or man's guardians, companions, and interceders, and we see them in the paintings of the Old Masters who interpreted them in a variety of ways: as chubby infants, young adults, mature adults, stylized, even bodiless, having little in common with each other save wings. Open in sequence the twenty-four windows of Angels at Advent beginning December 1 and continuing to Christmas day, and enjoy the hidden paintings. These masterpieces reflect the diverse occupations of angels and the many interpretations of these spiritual beings by the world's greatest artists. The paintings are from the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art. This 12 1/2 x 11 1/2 Advent calendar has an easel back. It comes in a resealable poly bag.
